Who can get a Wired Plastic Prepaid VisaŽ Card?
In compliance with the USA PATRIOT Act* and other laws, you must be a U.S. resident over 18 with a valid social security number and a verifiable physical address (no P.O. boxes or A.P.O. addresses) to open an account and order a card. You must provide us with this information, along with other information pertinent to opening your account to order a card. Currently we do not issue cards to residents of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa or other U.S. territories.

Who is the issuing bank?
BankFirst, headquartered in South Dakota, issues Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Cards. However, cardholder accounts are managed by Wired Plastic and individual cardholders do not have a personal bank account with BankFirst.

Is the Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card a credit card?
No. To spend money you must load it on your card.  To load, you can add cash, direct deposit, or transfer money from a bank.  When you use the card, the amount of your purchase is deducted from the loaded balance.

How is Wired Plastic different than a traditional debit/check card?
The Traditional debit/check cards are liable to receive bounced check, NSF and overdraft fees.  You won ’t be charged these fees with the Wired Plastic card.

What is Click-n-Pay?
Click-n-Pay is Wired Plastic’s automated payment service. With Click-n-Pay, you can send a one-time or recurring electronic payment to over 4,000 billers listed in our database, or send a paper check to anyone. Since the payment amount is immediately deducted from your available balance, you will never incur a bounced check fee.

How do I add cash to my account?
Wired Plastic offers a variety of ways to add cash to your account. Adding cash is quick and easy. You can add cash through:

  • Direct Deposit: Have pay, dividends, disability and government checks (i.e. Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, etc.) sent directly to your Wired Plastic account, FREE. Your funds are available the same business day they are received.
  • In-Person Payments™: Add cash at over 3,000 IPP retail locations. Your funds are available within 30 minutes. A retail load fee will apply. [more information]
  • Payzone™: Add cash at over 25,000 retail locations. Your funds will be available within 30-60 minutes. A retail load fee will apply. [more information]
  • MoneyGram®: Add cash at over 25,000 agent locations. Your funds will post within 30-60 minutes. An agent load fee will apply. [more information]
  • Western Union®: Add cash at over 47,000 Western Union agent locations. Your funds are available within 30 minutes. A retail load fee will apply. [more information]
  • Bank wire transfer: Send a Federal Reserve Wire Transfer from any bank or financial institution. Your funds are available the same business day they are received. An incoming wire fee will apply.

Can I deposit funds from my Wired Plastic account into a bank account?
Yes. You can deposit funds from your Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card into any authorized U.S. bank account for a $0.95 fee by logging in to your Wired Plastic account online and selecting "Money Transfer".

What are the loading limits for the Wired Plastic Card?
There are NO LIMITS for direct deposit, wires or bank transfers. The minimum for your initial cash load is $20.00; however, the minimum for all subsequent cash loads is $10.00. The maximum amount for every individual cash load varies by load location. In a 48 hour period you can add a total of $2,500 in cash.

How do I add cash using PayZone™, Western Union® or MoneyGram®?

Load Fee: Varies

  1. Give your card to the associate to swipe or key in your 16-digit card number.
  2. Give cash and load fee to the associate (fee and minimum/maximum loads varies by retailer).
  3. Keep the receipt for your records.
  4. Your funds will be posted to your Wired Plastic account in 30-60 minutes.

To add cash through PayZone™ at participating Americas Cash Express locations:

Load Fee: $3.00

  1. At the location tell the store associate that you need to load funds onto your card.
  2. Give your card to the associate.
    • IMPORTANT NOTICE - the store MUST swipe your card to start the transaction, they CANNOT key in your 16-digit card number.
  3. Give cash and load fee to the associate, $10.00 minimum, $2,500 maximum.
  4. Approve the amount of the transaction on the PIN Pad.
  5. Keep the receipt with your transaction number for your records.
  6. Your funds will be posted to your Wired Plastic account in 30-60 minutes.
  • IMPORTANT NOTICE: Funds can take over 1 hour to post to your card. If the ACE location is unable to load your card please have them contact Store Support by calling 1-888-753-2384.

To add cash through Payzone™ at participating IPP locations: [store locator]

Load Fee: $2.95

  1. At the location tell the store associate you need to make a payment through IPP.
  2. Tell the associate to select the PayZone biller from the Just in Time payment screen.
  3. Give the associate your card to key in your 16-digit card number.
  4. Give cash and load fee to the associate, $10.00 minimum, $1,000 maximum.
  5. Keep the receipt with your transaction number for your records.
  6. Your funds will be posted to your Wired Plastic account in 30-60 minutes.
  • IMPORTANT NOTICE: If the IPP Agent is unable to load your card please have them contact Agent Support by calling 1-888-477-7297.

To add cash at a Western Union® Agent location: [store locator]

Load Fee: $3.95

  1. Visit a Western Union Agent location and complete the gray Western Union Prepaid Services / SwiftPay form using the following information:
    • Account Number: your 16-digit card number
    • Pay To Company: Wired Plastic
    • Amount: cash you want to load ($10 minimum, $950 maximum)
  2. Give cash, completed form, and load fee to the Western Union Agent (no Checks or credit cards accepted).
  3. Keep the receipt for your records.
  4. Your funds will be posted to your Wired Plastic account in 10-15 minutes.

To add cash at a MoneyGram® agent location: [store locator]

Load Fee: $3.95

  1. Visit a MoneyGram Agent location and complete the blue ExpressPayment form using the following information:
    • Receive Code: 4741
    • Pay To Company: Wired Plastic
    • City: Salt Lake City, State: Utah
    • Account Number: your 16-digit card number
    • Amount: cash you want to load ($10 minimum, $999 maximum)
  2. Give cash, completed form, and load fee to the MoneyGram Agent (your account will also be charged a $.95 convenience fee).
  3. Keep the reference number that confirms your transaction for your records.
  4. Your funds will be posted to your Wired Plastic account in 30-60 minutes.

How do I view my account activity?
You can view all account transactions by logging in to your Wired Plastic account online and selecting "Account Details". The Account Details screen shows transaction history, spending summary and available balance.

What happens if I return something I purchased with my Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card?
When you return something purchased with your Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card, the merchant will credit the amount of the return to your account. Because returns are handled via the merchant’s bank, credits may take 2-3 business days to appear in your Wired Plastic account.

If my Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card is lost or stolen, can somebody use it?
Unfortunately yes. So if your Wired Plastic Card is lost or stolen, contact the Wired Plastic toll-free account information line at 1(866)335-4784. Enter your account information, then select option 3, "Card Status and Security" then select either "Lost" or "Stolen," you can deactivate your card to prevent unauthorized use. If you don’t have your card number contact customer service at (801)383-1003 to deactivate your card.

If your Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card has been lost or stolen, a replacement card will automatically be issued for a fee of $3.95.

How do I check my current balance?
Go to www.wiredplastic.com and login. Click the Account Details option. The Account Details screen shows transaction history, spending summary and available balance. Also, did you know you can sign up for Wireless Alerts via text message or email? These convenient services alert you of your balance when any card activity occurs. You can sign up for these services when you login to your account, and click ‘Alerts.’ You can also contact the toll-free account information line at 1(866)335-4784.

What is the PIN?
The PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a four digit number that is used when making purchases. It is a security feature that personalizes your card. We recommend you keep this number safe; do not keep it in your wallet, or write it on the card.

You will need your PIN if you select “Debit” when you swipe your card, but not if you select “Credit.” Also, the ATM console will require you to input your PIN when withdrawing money.

You can personalize your PIN by contacting the toll-free account information line at 1(866)335-4784. When you personalize your PIN, choose a number that you are familiar with so you don’t easily forget it.

What if I forget my PIN?
Visit www.wiredplastic.com and login. Click on Update Profile and choose Change Card PIN Number, or contact customer service at (801)383-1003; they can help you reset and choose a new PIN.

How do I close my Wired Plastic account?
Please contact customer service at (801)383-1003. You can transfer your remaining balance to another account, or have us send you a check in the mail. You also have the option to withdraw your funds at an ATM. (fees included). You will need to send us your card or destroy it. Send your Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card to us at P.O. Can I use the Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card to make reservations at hotels?
It depends on the hotel. When you make a reservation at a hotel it is called an ‘open end transaction.’ That means the total amount due is unknown. The hotel has the right to authorize more than the initial payment to cover damages that could occur during your stay. The hotel can place a hold on these funds for 30 days. Many times the card will not have sufficient funds to cover additional charges; for this reason some hotels do not accept prepaid cards. However, some hotels will accept prepaid cards under special rules; therefore, we recommend you first call the hotel and inquire about their prepaid card policy.

Can I use the Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card to rent a car?
It depends on the rental agency. When you make a car reservation it’s called an ‘open end transaction.’ That means the total amount due is unknown. The agency has the right to authorize more than the initial payment to cover fuel refills or damages that occurred during your rental. They can place a hold on these funds for 90 days. Many times the card will not have sufficient funds to cover additional charges; for this reason some car rental agencies do not accept prepaid cards. However, some will accept prepaid cards under special rules; therefore, we recommend you first call the rental agency and inquire about their prepaid card policy.

Can I use the Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card to purchase gas at the pump?
Yes, but to pay at the pump you must have a $50 balance. If you don’t have a $50 balance your card will be declined. If you want to buy gas without a $50 balance, go inside and have the cashier enter the amount you would like to buy.
